*These awards can be offered on a full-time, part time, block release, day release or evening basis. Combination of delivery is also a possibility.
The structure of these qualifications allow a high degree of flexibility in delivery due to their practical nature. The likely format will be a day a week in college and assessed in the workplace however, it is subject to change depending on uptake of the course.

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the candidates with an understanding of the principles for preparing thoroughbred horses for riding and subsequent riding activities and how these principles can be applied in practice. The course will introduce the learner to a variety of equipment they will need to understand, apply and manage. Throughout this qualification the emphasis will be on safe working and skills required for initial employment in the racing industry. All of these qualifications have been developed in consultation with Scottish trainers
