The Level 6 qualification has been designed to mirror the traditional skills associated with caring for racehorses whilst embracing technology and innovation seen within the Scottish workforce.

The Level 6 is made up of the following NPAs:

* This qualification will be completed in your own time with support from an SRA member of staff and assessed in the workplace.
Following the completion of a Level 5 qualification, and/or 2 years industry experience, learners can apply for the Level 6 qualification. This qualification consists of the following NPAs:
Horse Care
This NPA consists of 5 units;
- Horse Care: Watering & Feeding
- Horse Care: Tacking Up for Ridden Competition Work
- Horse Care: Horse Health, diseases & biosecurity
- Horse Care: Anatomy & Physiology: An Introduction
- Horse Care: Trimming, turnout & clipping (contact us to discuss the options around this unit)
Racehorse Care and Management
This NPA consists of 4 units
- Horse Care: Horse Fittening
- Contribute to the design and implementation of training programmes for racehorses
- Evaluate Training Programmes for Racehorses
- Working with Young Horses in Preparation for Ridden Work
Leadership for the Racehorse Industry
This NPA consists of 4 units
- Leadership in Practice
- Customer Service in the Horseracing Industry
- Developing Sustainable Practice in the Horseracing Industry
- Yard Management
Racehorse Exercise & Performance
This NPA consists of 4 units
- Racehorse Care: Preparation for Ridden Work
- Providing Non Ridden Exercise for Horses
- Riding Racehorses for Routine Exercise
- Riding a Racehorse to Improve Performance
The Level 6 qualification offers a pathway for career progression into senior yard roles, racecourse work and training opportunities.
